Water Sports
Javea is surely one of the Mediterranean's most attractive ports - not only because of its great beauty and location - but also because of the wonderful facilities. The modern Yacht Club (Club Nautico) in the marina has 300 berths and every water-sport imaginable can be found. Swimming, sailing, windsurfing, scuba diving, water-skiing, jet-skiing, snorkelling and fishing are all available and much more! Fishing
Fishing in Spain is free if you have a fishing licence. The licence can be obtained from the ICONA and the authorities of each province. There are three different kinds of licences, depending on the type of fishing you want to do: sea, river and subaquaeous fishing. Sea fishing can be practiced at the three Spanish coasts: at the Mediterranean Sea, the Cantabric Sea and the Atlantic, as well as in Galicia and Andalusia. There is a great variety of fish from hullets to types of large tuna and sharks. River fishing is the most popular kind of fishing in Spain and your catch will include many different types of fish from salmon and innumerable kinds of trout to pikes. Naturally, your catch will also consist of fish that only exist in Spain such as the Samarugo, the Gambusia and the lamprey. Subaquaeous fishing can be carried out at several Spanish coasts, which are very popular due to their rocky coasts and the clear water.
Beaches
From north to south, the capes of San Antonio, San Martín, Negre and La Nao crown the coastline, creating a series of coves blanketed with white, sun-bleached sand or shingle. You can choose between the busy beach of El Arenal in the centre of the bay, or the quiet cove of Granadella, ideal for scuba diving or snorkelling. Commune with the elements on the nudist beach of Ambolo, or discover the secrets of Barraca, Falsía, Pope o Tangó and Caleta coves. The gentle waves separate the coast from the picturesque islands of Portichol and Descubridor, and sculpt the fabulous caves of Orguens and Tallada. Why not make a day of it with a trip in one of the glass-bottomed boats?
Cricket Not many people have the opportunity to play cricket all through the year but here in Spain, the great climate makes it possible and there are clubs in almost every part of the country. Javea Cricket Club was the first on the Costa Blanca and is proud to be one of Spain's top clubs. Together with the Town Hall, the Club is committed to passing the passion on to the town´s young people. Spend a lazy afternoon watching how they do it!

There are numerous beautiful areas to walk in Javea, from taking a slow stroll around the Old Town, to climbing Javea´s elephant-like mountain, the Montgo. Montgó rises up to 753 metres above sea level, nurturing one of the most valuable botanical reserves in the Valencian Region. A journey up the slopes shows a wealth of different vegetation, and provides extraordinary panoramic views from the top. Other Sports
Fun for everyone with go-carting, trike hire, clay pigeon shooting, cycling, netball, badminton, football, basketball and more… . Cuisine
In addition to the extensive international choices, you'll find a selection of the best local cuisine at any of the hundreds of restaurants in Javea. Rice dishes come in a wide variety of styles: arroz al horno (oven baked rice), arroz con costra (topped with a "crust" of omelette), arròs amb fesols i naps (with beans and turnips), and the famous local arròs a la marinera (fishermans' rice), as well as the internationally famous paella. Freshly caught fish are used in succulent dishes such as cruet de peix ( a fresh fish and prawn stew) and suc de roig, or just crisply fried in a fritura. Locals also salt or dry their catch to make salazones of anchovy, tuna, bonito or the savoury borreta de melva - excellent as appetizers. Pizza-like coques de pebrera i tomata and traditional sausage preparations complete the typical local offerings, not to mention pumpkin and almond pastries (buñuelos de calabaza, pastissets d'ametla) for the sweet-toothed. Then there are the wonderfully fresh fruit and vegetables, the wine of all qualities and prices and the fascinating weekly market. Places of Interest
Again Javea offers something for every taste - art galleries, museums, shops, a cinema and a theatre. There is much history here, with the influence of the Moors much in evidence. The ancient San Bartolome church witnessed the defeat of the Moors by King Jaime El Conquistador in 1244 and its outer walls bear the scars of the Civil War seven centuries earlier. The beautiful city of Valencia with its historic buildings, museums and wonderful shopping centre is only an hour away.
For the thrill seekers in your party, Benidorm's Terra Mitica, Aqualandia and Mundomar (40 mins away) theme parks are a must. At Gata de Gorgos (8km) you will find what the local craft industries have to offer - palm leaf, rattan and wickerwork articles.
